Them:Youth – Fever Rising

. free download .

This is good rock music, settled in a serious and insistent groove. At times feeling like a track from Kasabian‘s first album but also swirling into the more pensive offerings from recent Yeah Yeah Yeahs, I half expected it to end in the vinyl skipped feedback of Radiohead‘s Karma Police but you can’t have everything. I love the sure-footedness of this anthem-to-be, as it gathers it’s powerful momentum the vocal tracks thicken up and the instruments let them power on alone before finally stepping in to helm the resulting crescendo into harbour.  It’s all too easy to see this captivating the masses from any main stage. Although the intro does drive me nuts for some reason.

If you want new music for new music’s sake then this isn’t for you, if you want to enjoy a decent track from a band that have been swimming about the brink of breaking then help yourself.

These guys have paired with Channel 3 for a big PR campaign so expect to hear more from them.
